2017-2018 Incoming 7th Graders

If you missed both of our course request evening for incoming 7th graders for the 2017-2018 school year, please look for the presentation in the locker area. If you have not completed the course request form, please make sure to stop by the EPMS Student Service building as soon as possible to complete the form.

ATTENDANCE


Please call 916-683-7688 to clear your child's attendance. If you email/send a note with your child to clear an absent, please make sure it includes: student ID number, dates of absence(s), reason for absence, phone number, and parent/guardian signature. It is important to keep the school informed of ALL absences.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR?


The counseling program is an integral part of the school program at Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School. Our school counselor(s) work closely with the EPMS staff, administrators, families, and community to provide a supportive, effective and safe environment in which all students can succeed. Students and families are encouraged to contact the counseling office to set up appointments if they would like to meet with a member of the counseling staff. The EPMS counseling program provides:

· Academic/Emotional/Social adjustments to middle school

· Class placement for 7th and 8th grade

· Academic guidance for students & parents/guardians

· Assist students in identifying academic and career goals

· Career exploration

· Orientation to comprehensive counseling services and how to receive assistance

· Provide assistance to students in conflict mediation, communication skills, problem-solving, & decision-making

· Facilitates Student Study Team and 504 meetings for student in need of services

· PSAT & Academic Talent Search testing

· Advocacy Program

· Helps with organization skills, study skills, and test taking skills

Who else can you find in Student Services?

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST


Crystal Jones is our School Psychologist. She is on campus several days a week. Mrs. Jones provides support to our students with IEPs and participates in SST meetings.

SPEECH THERAPIST


Kathryn Sharp is our Speech Therapist. She is on campus 2 or 3 days a week. She services students who have IEPs with speech goals.

SCHOOL NURSE


Liz Coveau is our school nurse. She is on campus one day a week.  Students who become ill during the day will sign into the nurses office and call home and be picked up from school.

DATA PROCESSOR


As our Data Processor, Annette Hill enrolls all new students and keeps progress reports and report cards up to date.

Has Your Child Been Absent?  You can email to report your child's absence. Please remember to include: student name, date of absence, reason for absence, student ID number (if you have it), and who is reporting the absence. We will not accept emails to clear a student absence from a student's School Loop account. School Loop emails must come from a parent account.

TIPS TO BE A SUCCESSFUL STUDENT

  • Keep your backpack organized
  • Participate in class discussion
  • Complete all classwork & homework
  • Turn in work on time
  • If absent, use School Loop, check with teachers, and turn work in on time!
  • Accept responsibility for your grades and behavior
